Feel the thrill of the downhill race in a bobsled when you create this fun 3D project with Perler beads. With easy layer and glue assembly, you can make sleds in your favorite colors for your own competition!
See the Supply List for beads and tools you can purchase here. You will also need:
Download the PDF for the Bobsled Speedchaser Project Pattern. You will use the large square pegboard to create your project. If you are using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size pattern underneath it. Place your beads following the pattern.
Ask an adult to fuse your designs. Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard. In a circular motion, begin to iron the project. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. Let the design cool.
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat step two. Let cool completely. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboards and ironing paper are reusable.
Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.
ASSEMBLY: Glue your blades to the underside of the base as shown.
Glue the Sled Body Bottom to the top of the base, aligning at the front edge.
Glue the Sled Body Top to the Sled Body Bottom, aligning the ends of the wings at the back.
Glue the Seat Back pieces together, then glue to the Sled Body aligning the back edges.
Glue the helmet inside the sled in the position shown in the photo.
