Step 2

CREATING THE DESIGN:
Download the PDF for the Hearts and Ribbons Project Pattern. If you are using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size pattern underneath it. Place your beads as shown.

Step 3

FUSING THE DESIGN: An adult should do this step.
Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard. In a circular motion, begin to iron the project. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. NOTE: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly; it is possible some colors may need a little more time. DO NOT OVER-IRON as this can make the assembly more challenging. Let the design cool.

Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. When the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable.

Step 4

ASSEMBLY:
Paint the dowel rod in a coordinating color and let dry.

Tie lengths of matching thread to the hearts at the points shown in the photo. Tie the parrot green hearts below the turquoise hearts.

Tie the heart strings to the dowel, following the photo or spacing as desired. Trim any extra thread.

With the ribbon, make a bow with multiple loops, then tie it to the center of the dowel with thread.

Tie a 12" length of ribbon around the dowel at each point where the outermost hearts are suspended.

Use a 24" length of ribbon to create a hanger by tying to each end of the dowel rod as shown.
