CREATING THE DESIGN:
Download the PDF for the Mini Beads Skating Santa Snow Globe Project Pattern. Assemble the Mini Beads pegboards in a square. Slide the actual-size pattern under your clear pegboard and place your beads as shown. In a similar way, create the 3 snow base layers with classic beads.
FUSING THE DESIGN: An adult should do this step.
Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard. In a circular motion, begin to iron the project. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. Be especially attentive to the tips of Santa’s skates. NOTE: Mini Beads need heat for about 10 seconds per side to fuse evenly; classic beads need about 20 seconds per side. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required. DO NOT OVER-IRON as this will cause the beads to close and can make assembly of your project more challenging. Let the design cool.
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. When the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboards and ironing paper are reusable.
We used a 16 oz. glass mayonnaise jar for our snow globe. Other jars of the same ounce size may fit the design differently. Remove the label.
The snow base layers will lift the Santa in the jar to be visible and appealing. Feel free to adjust the size and number of layers for the jar you will be using.
PLEASE NOTE: To enable the Santa to fit properly inside the jar, the snow base layer that you make from the Mini Beads will need to be positioned off center to the left. We recommend testing the position of the snow base pieces with the Santa in place and the fit into the jar before gluing the pieces in place. You may need to bend the Santa slightly at the edges during insertion into the jar.
When you are happy with the position of the pieces, glue them securely together and to the lid of the jar. Glue Santa into the foot slot of the Mini Beads snow base piece.
Fill the jar with water and add a healthy amount of iridescent glitter. Take the lid with Santa upside down and insert him into the jar. Twist lid on tightly. Gently turn the jar to start the blizzard!
Glue some red trim to the edge of the lid for decoration, and tie a piece a ribbon as a final touch.
