Step: 2

Download the PDF for the Flowers Project Pattern. This design uses a colorful combination of beads and stems cut to size. Use stem clipper to cut the stems to the size indicated on the pattern sheet.

You will use the large square, small hexagon, flower, and daisy pegboards to create your flowers. To make the bead stem flowers, place both regular beads and stems BETWEEN THE PEGS on the pegboard as shown. If you are using a clear pegboard, place the actual size pattern under the pegboard. Flowers made with just the regular beads should be worked on the pegs as usual.

Step: 3

Ask an adult to fuse your designs. Projects with beads and stems are ironed ON ONE SIDE ONLY so the stems stay rounded on the front. Tip: To fuse the bead stem flowers, note that the stems stand a little taller than the beads and will fuse first and begin to flatten—this is normal. The back of the project should be well-fused but not squashed, and the beads should still have an opening in the center.

Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard. Press the iron gently for 5-10 seconds, then begin to iron In a circular motion. As the beads begin to fuse, you will see circles of the beads start to show through the paper. When ironed properly, the beads will still have an open center. Let the design cool completely. DO NOT OVER-IRON as this will cause the beads to close and can make assembly of your project more challenging. Let the design cool. For the flowers that are just beads and no stems, continue to the next step.

Step: 4

Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboards and ironing paper are reusable.

Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.

Step: 5

ASSEMBLY: Insert a long bead stem through the big flower, then the small flower.
