Download the PDF for the Princess Mask and Wand Project Pattern. You will use 2 large square pegboards—assemble them together as shown in the project sheet. Cut the patterns out and tape together in the same way. If you are using clear pegboards, slide the actual-size patterns underneath them. Place your beads on the pegboards as shown.
Ask an adult to fuse your designs—see below for further instructions. NOTE: For this project, fuse ONLY the back side of the mask—fuse it securely but not flattened (bead holes should still be open. This will enable the mask to curve around the face more easily when worn.
Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard. In a circular motion, begin to iron the project. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. DO NOT OVER-IRON as this will cause the beads to close and can make assembly of your project more challenging. Let the design cool.
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboards and ironing paper are reusable.
Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.
ASSEMBLY: Glue the small hear piece to the center front of the crown over the existing heart shape.
Paint the dowel for the wand and let dry. When dry, glue the star to the end of the dowel. Tie varying lengths of ribbons to the top of the wand’s handle.
Adhere gems to the top of the crown and the wand as shown. Tie varying lengths of ribbons to each side of the crown. Make sure one pair of ribbons is long enough to tie the mask on for wearing.
